About Us

Welcome to Community Breast Care, my name is Alison Boyd. I am the mother of two beautiful little girls, and I am passionate about breast care.

About Us

My organisation aims to raise awareness of the importance to health and wellbeing of women’s and girls' breast care, especially when choosing a well fitted and comfortable bra.

As a well-respected and caring bra adviser working for a leading retailer for over a decade in Birmingham, West Midlands, I have gained a wealth of knowledge in breast care and it has become a natural progression to be a working founder of Community Breast Care. All advice given is personal and impartial.

Individual Bra Fitting

My first step is to offer support and advice to all girls from the age of eight upwards through age related Mother / Guardian and Daughter inspired workshops. This will enable Mothers and Guardians to know how a bra should fit their daughter as they begin to develop physically.

Many young girls may feel embarrassed as they start their journey in to puberty. Therefore, this advice is offered in schools or after school in a familiar and friendly environment. All presentations are fun, interactive, educating and informing the girls on how to bra fit themselves with the help of their Mother/Guardian. In addition to this presentation, a small leaflet is handed out containing my website information and FAQs.

We know only too well, that body image and peer pressure plays a huge part in young girls lives today. By not having and wearing a correctly fitted bra for sports and fitness activities, we know most girls will not continue with physical education. This is due to their lack of self-confidence and self-esteem and those feeling too embarrassed to run for a ball, or to jump up and down during aerobics. This is just a couple of examples why we offer breast care advice and give information in schools, youth clubs and community centres.

From year 7 upwards we also include why, when and how to carry out breast self-examinations and how to continue monthly breast self-examinations throughout their lives. This will raise breast awareness and improve the chances of early diagnosis should a change take place.
